GREEN Beauty in San Francisco

Tiburon Home – a Magnificent Natural Beauty

High atop a Tiburon hillside ridge, nestled across from Angel Island with a sweeping view of San Francisco and the East Bay is an architectural masterpiece of a home built in 1995.

Vanguard Properties presents this one-of-a-kind home of 4 Bedroom, 4.5 Baths with 2 car parking. Carved out of the hillside is an earthy enclave of natural limestone and granite, carefully orchestrated to blend seamlessly with the California landscape. Most charming is a path that leads around the perimiter of the property and around the house to view from each window where there is a real sense of nature and relaxation.

Houseplants are Easy-How To Secret!

Houseplants.  We are 7×7 in San Francisco.  That is 7 miles by 7 miles.  Not all of us have outdoor space, though in the City many of us are lucky to have our little slice of land in the back yard.  If you don’t have that, it doesn’t mean you can’t have fabulous greenery that is living, in your very own home.

Here is my best kept secret.  Purchase potting soil and a pot that is a little bigger than the plant you have purchased, drop in a screen to cover the hole in the bottom of the pot (purchased at a garden supply store) and some gravel or old pot shards as a small bottom layer. Ease the plant out of the pot by turn it on its’ side and holding close to the stem(s), drop it into the pot with some soil previously placed in the pot leveling the top of your new plant about 1-2” below the rim.  Surround it with soil and press the plant down, and tamp the soil down lightly.

Parklets in San Francisco

Check out our San Francisco Green Spaces, small tucked away community parks that may even be smaller than a City lot.  This is wonderful and necessary in a City as dense as ours.  We are 7X7 with lots of living space and now a chance for more open space.

Community Gardens in San Francisco

Potrero Hill Community Garden
Potrero Hill Community Garden

There are over 50 community gardens in San Francisco.

I’m going to make it my business to visit every one of them! I wonder of one of them has an open plot available. I visited the one on Lawton and 7th Aveunue, just behind the pumpkin patch.  When you purchase your pumpkins with the kids, be sure to walk behind and see the community garden there. There was a waiting list for that one and I bet there are waiting lists for others. I’ll report back and what I see, with pics and who I talk to as well! I bet it will be interesting.
Here is a link with a list of the current community gardens in San Francisco. FYI

Jurlique – Natural Beauty

SAN FRANCISCO ORGANIC BEAUTY THAT REALLY WORKS!bfromb_farm I’VE TRIED IT AND I LOVE IT!

I ventured into the Jurlique store today on Fillmore in San Francisco. Years ago I was in the beauty business and I spent many hours getting ‘Jurlique’ facials. What you may not know is that it is an organic, alternative skincare brand and line that’s been around for over 20 years. I particularly remember the natural elements in the creams, they smelled so good, you felt like you could eat them, and they had texture too, like oatmeal in one of the face washes. Now, I don’t know if this is a contributing factor, but people tell me I look young all the time, and often I wonder if it’s from those lovely facials I received for so many consecutive years back then.

Any hoo – these days, I make sure to use up every little bit of cream and product I have before re-investing in another…waste not want not (I am my mother).  I am so excited to have found Jurlique again and to know that they tend the earth on their certified organic and bio dynamic farms, by growing the herbs and flowers used in their products. I’ll definitely head in there to purchase the regimen that’s right for my skin and feel darn good about it, knowing that I’m supporting a truly organic organization. Also, they give free mini facials, though you have to call to schedule. The San Francisco store is at 2136 Fillmore St., PH: 415-346-7881. Jurlique is hot, you’ve got to smell it and try it to believe it…this is a vital and vibrant product line, that’s been around for a while and has worked out all the wrinkles “Get it?”, kinda like me…  www.Jurlique.com
